Mark your calendar for the 14th Annual Arc Race on Saturday, September 6th at Long Branch Park in Liverpool.  More than a thousand people will join Arc in support of people with developmental disabilities.  Enjoy a fun-filled day of running, walking, family entertainment and health & wellness information.

Run in the certified 5k, the certified Half-Marathon, or walk in the 3k Fun Walk!  Bring family and friends to enjoy the day in our extensive Family Fun Zone, and check out the new Health & Wellness tent.  Arc Race is for everyone!

USA Track & Field Certified Course - Arc RaceCOURSE & CERTIFICATION

The 5k & Half-Marathon courses are certified by the USATF. Course numbers are NY04043AM for the 5k and NY04042AM for the Half Marathon. Courses must be certified for any road running performance to be accepted as a record or to be nationally ranked. Furthermore, running a race on a certified course allows you to accurately compare your time to performance runs on other certified courses because you can be sure the distances were exactly the same. No one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not accurate.hey pass by it. Not only does this enable accurate times, but also allows us to publish and post results on race day quickly.

PRIZES AND MEDALS

Over $8,000 in prizes are being awarded by Arc Race this year.  The prizes include over $3,000 in gift cards donated by Wegmans for top finishers in both events and each age and gender category.  $5,000 of in-kind door prizes, such as iPods, digital cameras and sports equipment, will also be raffled off to participants during post-race festivities.  Must be present to win door prizes.

Newly-designed, custom die-cast Arc Race medals are being created this year for top finishers overall and in all age/gender categories. Official awards ceremonies are held shortly after each event finishes, so be sure to stick around after you finish for prize presentations, door prizes and official photographs.

CHAMPIONCHIP TIMING

Arc Race uses ChampionChip technology to accurately record each runner’s time as he or she crosses the finish line. A small, unobtrusive plastic chip is affixed to each participant’s shoe laces. A special receiver on the finish line records each unique runner as they pass by it. Not only does this enable accurate times, but also allows us to publish and post results on race day quickly.

If you are an avid racer, you may have your own ChampionChip. We welcome racers who prefer to use their own chips – simply note your chip number on your registration form.

Racers who do not have their own chips will be provided one by Arc when they pick up their race packet. The chips are collected by volunteers after runners cross the finish line. Chips that are not returned will incur a $35 fee to replace it.   The Family Fun Walk does not utilize timing chips as it is not a competitive event.

FAMILY FUN ZONE

Arc Race's free Family Fun Zone is a major part of the event!  Past Family Fun Zone activities included hot air balloon rides, a petting zoo, playground, face painting, free food and drinks, games and prizes, music, entertainment, give aways, rides such as the bouncey castle, pictures with cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny and Otto the Orange and more.  The entire Family Fun Area is free and open to race participants and their family and friends - so join us at Long Branch Park.

HEALTH & WELLNESS TENT

New this year, the Health & Wellness Tent will be featuring services and information to keep you in your peak shape!  Receive free massages and chiropractic adjustments, receive information about health and wellness topics and more.

WHEELCHAIR & ASSISTIVE DEVICE CATEGORY

Arc Race has a competitive category in both the 5k and Half-Marathon events for participants who use wheelchairs or other assistive devices, such as a hand crank.  Participants racing in this category can compete for placing and prizes on the same certified course.  Start time for this category will be a minute before gun start to allow all participants to share the course safely.  To participate in this category, simple check the appropriate box on your registration.  For additional information, contact  Gini Gozzi, Special Events Coordinator at 315.476.7441, extension 147 or ggozzi@arcon.org.
